A Fancy Scarf

I like to knit. Which is not to say I knit particularly well. And I love scarves. So far I’ve had quite good luck with them. So when I ran across (thanks to a friend) a very easy and cool scarf pattern I was not able to resist.

I was a little confused when I read the instructions. Ok, I was really confused when I tried to read the instructions as they were in Italian, Spanish, German and something else I was not able to identify. Eventually I came across the English directions.  That only managed to confuse me further. So I got online and watched a video. Still slightly incredulous that it only involved 8 knit stiches. So I stretched out the yarn a bit and plunged on it. After all, it’s not like I’ve never frogged a project before.

I was quite pleased with the speed of the project. A good thing for me since I tend to lose focus or joy when working on a project that takes too long.

The colors really are quite lovely and my favorite. I can’t imagine why I was shocked to find that I had a scarf in similar colors.

The photos really do not do the yarn or the final project justice, which is a true shame.

Having yellow walls and being too lazy to get out the proper lighting equipment does have disadvantages.

Ahead of the game

So I have somehow managed to produce a few items destined to be Christmas gifts. It is as much a shock to me as it is to those of you who know my perpensity for procrastination. And yet, here is solid evidence that someone is getting an ornament or five. Provided, of course, that I don’t lose them between now and the time of gift giving.

Altered Book – MAGPI

Back in November a group of MAGPI was working on completing the ExploreWV Geocoin Challenge. And since we are a sensible bunch on ocassion we thought that perhaps making one big sweep from Morgantown to Charleston to Huntington to Lillyhaven to Beckley to Cass would be a great way to get all the required caches and have a lot of fun.

And so yours truly, pbump, mrs. pbump, wvhunter, Gentleman-Carpenter, Aquacache, Rock_Rat & Knight Who Says Ni set off for high adventure! To commemorate the trip, I made this altered book.

Enjoy.

I’m Crafty

The 5th Great MEAT-n-Greet at Coopers Rock is coming up. And it’s always good to have cool stuff to give away.

As modeled by my lovely assistant sidekick Little Wooden Boy, I present….a selection of shirts. (no worries, they will be laundered before the event)

Everyone that attends the MEAT-n-Greet will have his or her fair chance to win one of these fabulous shirts. There are 9 in total, three each of Medium, Large & XL.

See ya Saturday!
