We have weasels (again)!
We’ve got Weasels! Don’t worry they aren’t contageous. But good god are they hilariously cute!
We are thrilled to present the three newest members of the Matlick household. Much thanks to Barb at the Hide E Hole Ferret Rescue in Pittsburgh, PA, for trusting us with these little darlings.
Shadowfax (formerly Shadow). She is 4.5 years old and from a private breeder (Weasel Ferrets, I think). She is 100% pure muscle and far too clever for her own good. She was in the house for maybe 15 minutes before she figured out how to (almost) get over the bottom half of the dutch door! Needless to say the ferret room was immediately rearranged
Next is Fionnlaugh (formerly Kisses – gag what a horrid name). She’s just a wee little bit of a ferret, tipping the scales at 1 lb. 12 oz. Our new little tiny girl is a year and a half old and when she is awake is quite the little spitfire! She has the cutest little white mits (picture spats) and a white bib. She, much like Shadowfax, is a bit too clever for her own good. Most ferrets are, after all. It took her probably 30 minutes to realize that the dutch door doesn’t go all the way to the floor. Unfortunately for her, it wasn’t quite high enough for her to get under. Which led to her getting her little head stuck under it. That led to me being out in the garage running the table saw to create a temporary fix for that little problem. Her name means Bright Warrior and is pronounced Fee-own-la. I almost always say that really high pitched. I have no idea why.
Our little miss was surrendered to the ferret shelter with her buddy Duncan (formerly Kringle – again, awful, just awful. They were Christmas gifts, would you have guessed?). Duncan is a whopping 2 lb. 7 oz., and like Fionnlaugh is 1.5 years old. He’s got a bit of a big bum, but I think a little time at our house with the 300 stairs will take care of that. He’s a lovey little boy and enjoys being cuddled and held. He hasn’t seem to have been as naughty as the other two out of the gate, but we’ll see how that goes. And on my god does he look so much like my little boy Fidget (who we lost at the age of 8 in 2005).
It had been far too quiet in the house for far too long. We could not be more thrilled to have our own little business of weasels once again!
